Instagram has just rolled out a new ‘suggested posts’ feature and we think it’s fair to say that not all users of the app are loving it.

The new suggested posts feature appears at the bottom of your Instagram feed once you’ve scrolled through all the new content that has been posted from accounts you already follow.

The content that comes up in the suggested posts feature will be from accounts you may not have seen before. These suggestions are based on posts from accounts that are similar to the ones you follow or posts similar to ones you like or save on the app.

Users of the app aren’t too impressed by the new update however, with some taking to Reddit to vent their frustrations:

‘How do I get rid of this, I don’t want to see unwanted content from people I don’t follow.

‘This is very annoying as before even after I was caught up I can still see older posts from people I follow who posted and appear in my main. Not some unwanted spam trash content that is basically the explore page!’

Another angry user agreed saying: ‘If changing away from chronological posts wasn’t bad enough, this is just annoying.’

So if you’re not a fan of the new feature, is there a way to turn it off?

Can you turn off Instagram suggested posts?

Unfortunately, if you don’t like Instagram’s new suggested posts feature, there is no way to turn it off or disable it.

While you can’t hide suggested posts or stop them from appearing at the end of your feed, you can tell Instagram if you’re ‘not interested’ in their suggestions.

Just tap the three dots above the post and then tap ‘not interested’.

While this won’t make the posts go away, it will be used by Instagram in the future to better tailor their suggestions to you.

You can also tap ‘View Older Posts’ to see more posts from the accounts you do follow and push the suggested posts further down.

The only way to totally avoid the suggested posts function is to open Instagram in a web browser instead of using the app on a phone.
